Commissioning a painting or drawing
Many of the paintings and drawings I produce are commissioned, often as a gift for a loved one or to commemorate a special occasion like a wedding, a retirement, an anniversary or a birthday.
The special date can be incorporated into the painting and you will then have an heirloom that will long outlast other traditional gifts and won't be forgotten. It is also quite common for people to commission paintings for themselves!
Subject matter covered has included houses, churches and other buildings, wedding venues, boats, seascapes, landscapes and pets like dogs, cats and horses.
Prices start at around £180.00 for a framed oil painting and around £120.00 for a framed pencil drawing.
It really is quite simple to commission a painting. I will be happy to discuss all your requirements and answer all the questions you may have without any obligation. You will be supplied with details of different sized paintings along with an exact cost for each and you can then pick one which best suits your budget.
Turnberry Sunset (triptych) Each panel 24 x 28 ins. Oil
Commissioned by a keen golfer and Turnberry Golf Club member.
If you are thinking of commissioning a painting or drawing then please contact me and I can let you see further samples of previous work and give you an accurate cost without any obligation.
The process is fairly simple:
1. Once you know exactly what you would like painted - or drawn - and the size you would like, I will let you know the
exact cost and will require a 35% deposit. Payment can be made by bank transfer or cheque.
2. I will then make a fairly accurate sketch of your proposed painting for your approval. It is easy to make any changes at
this stage and once you are happy with the sketch I will require a further 35% deposit and your painting can be started.
3. I will email you an image of your painting when completed and once you are happy with it I will require the final 30%
balance to be paid, plus postage if required, and will post your painting to you.
A painting can be produced in about three to four weeks after the sketch is approved (quicker if necessary!).
To give you an idea of the cost of an oil painting, please see the guide below. These prices are for an un-framed painting and are based on a fairly straightforward seascape or landscape. More detailed subject matter like houses and buildings, boats, cars, portraits of people and animals etc. may cost more. Please note that paintings can be made at any size you would like. Black and white pencil drawings will work out at around half the cost of an oil painting, depending on the subject matter.
I will be pleased to arrange framing for you if you wish and can email you images of suggested frames and let you have a cost before going ahead. Alternatively I can supply your painting unframed for you to arrange your own framing.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions and I'll be very happy to help.
