About Me
- Name: william kerr
- Location: troon, GB
Hello, and thanks for visiting. I have been painting and drawing since primary school and, following a career in graphic design, I finally started working full time as an artist in 1996. I have exhibited regularly at numerous galleries and joint exhibitions and have held solo exhibitions at the Maclaurin Art Gallery in Ayr, the Dick Institute in Kilmarnock, The Untitled Gallery in Hampstead, London and the Annan gallery in Glasgow. I also teach drawing from time to time and have written and illustrated a book on how to draw entitled 'William McLean Kerr's Guide to Drawing'. I was compelled to write this book as I felt there was so little information available for those who really wanted to learn to draw, either to create finished drawings or as the foundation for painting. I will regularly post articles on drawing and topics will include perspective (it's not difficult!), light and shade, creating texture and tone, materials etc along with hints and tips. I look forward to sharing those with you and if there is anything in particular you would like me to cover please let me know. If sufficient people are interested then I'll show you how you can do it.
